Beethoven Quartet Society
The most exclusive club in Cambridge!
United by a love of Beethoven's string quartets, we meet monthly to discuss and to play this endlessly fascinating music. We also delve into the music of Beethoven's contemporaries, as well as contemporary arrangements of his violin sonatas and symphonies, which is how this music would have been shared in the nineteenth century.

Discussion draws on our ongoing research into this fascinating period (we will even share materials from archives!).
Friendly archivist!
Did you know...?
The Beethoven Quartet Society is inspired by a group of the same name founded in London in 1845. It aimed to listen to and discuss every note of Beethoven’s quartets with performers and listeners alike!
Performers included Joseph Joachim and Henryk Wieniawski (as violinist and violist)!

Meet some of our friends!
